AHNA General Membership Meeting Reminder: Monday, August 17 at 6:30pm
The next monthly meeting of the Arlington Heights Neighborhood Association is Monday August 17 at 6:30pm at Arlington Heights United Methodist Church, 4200 Camp Bowie Blvd. (enter on Hillcrest).
Following our regularly scheduled business, including the monthly crime report, our guest speakers will include Randy McGuffee, director of community relations with UNT Health Science Center, who will provide us with an overview of the development and progress at the UNT Health Science Center campus.
Beth Knight with the City’s department of Planning and Development will also be joining us to discuss the recent council initiated rezoning effort.
AHNA has been working diligently over the past five years to properly zone our neighborhood block-by-block. Now with the use of council-initiated rezoning, we are able to correct a large majority of zoning issues within our boundaries. For example, properties that are being used as single family will be rezoned as single family; duplex blocks will be zoned duplex blocks; multi-family (apartments) will be zoned C, multi family and businesses along our boundaries will be rezoned according to their business. The City, as well as the neighborhood association, has seen many of our lots and blocks improperly zoned which doesn’t protect our neighbors from poor development. We are striving to protect our neighborhood as a primarily single-family neighborhood and this is the first, and primary, step in doing so. Please make plans to attend this very important meeting.
