Last night the League delivered THIS LETTER at the Fort Worth City Council’s budget hearing.  The mayor and the budget director announced a list of items proposed for cuts which have been added back into the 2010-2011 budget. Among these items returned to the budget are 6 months of funding for the Ridglea, North Side, and Meadowbrook Branch Libraries; the decision has also been made to continue operation of the Parks and Community Services Department in its current configuration for one year.

During the next 6 months, a committee appointed by the City Manager will study the proposal to combine the Library and Parks and Community Services Departments.  Because neighborhoods are so strongly impacted by the availability of branch libraries and parks, last night the League asked that a League representative be given a seat on the committee.
