CLOVER LANE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

July 9, 2020 · Filed Under Events and News

Below is the latest progress report from Greg Robbins, Senior Project Manager for the Clover Lane reconstruction project.  The smell of hot asphalt permeated the air earlier this week, so we know they’re getting closer to wrapping things up.

What work is currently being done?
The contractor is currently in the process of placing concrete pavement in the southbound lane of Clover Lane, both in front of Stripling Middle School as well as near Birchman Avenue.  They are also building new sidewalks and ADA wheelchair ramps near the streets on the south end of the project and in front of the school.  On the north end of the project, the contractor is completing the installation of the new water pipe and is preparing to tie in to the existing water supply in Camp Bowie Boulevard.

When will it be done?
The paving work in front of Stripling Middle School, as well as the water pipe connection at Camp Bowie Boulevard, is expected to be completed this week.  The paving and flat work between Birchman and Linden Avenues is expected to continue for several more weeks.

What work was completed in June?
The contractor installed the final sanitary sewer manhole, completed the street paving on Will Rogers Road, and completed the paving on the northbound lanes of Clover Lane in front of Stripling Middle School.

What construction will occur in the next few weeks?
July 6-10: Continue paving placement on Clover Lane in the southbound lane in front of Stripling Middle School and between Birchman and Linden Avenues.

July 13-17: Complete paving in front of Stripling Middle School.  Continue paving between Birchman and Linden Avenues.  Tie in new water pipe to existing water pipe in Camp Bowie Boulevard and take residents off of temporary water service.

July 20-24: Continue paving between Birchman and Linden Avenues.

Which streets will be affected?
The intersection of Camp Bowie Boulevard and Clover Lane will be temporarily closed late this week while the connection is made from the new water pipe in Clover Lane to the existing pipe in Camp Bowie Boulevard.  The paving work between Birchman and Linden Avenues is expected to last several more weeks, with an expected finish in September this year.  During this time, expect disruption of traffic flow along these two streets as well as closures of the intersecting streets to through traffic.  Once the new pavement in the southbound lane of Clover Lane in front of Stripling Middle School has cured next week, it will be opened up once again to traffic.

Which properties may experience water/sewer disruptions?
The contractor will have to shut down a large portion of the 20” water main in Camp Bowie Boulevard in order to make the connection to the new pipe in Clover Lane.  During this shut down, several businesses along Camp Bowie Boulevard will lose water service.  This has already been brought to the attention of the affected businesses and the plan is to do an overnight shutoff so that the impact to businesses is minimal.

Once the water connection is made at the intersection of Camp Bowie Boulevard and Clover Lane, residents still on temporary water will be taken off and will resume typical water service.  Switching back off of temporary service will cause a brief service disruption and you will be notified in advance.
