NEW HOMES ON CARLETON AVENUE

March 14, 2026 · Filed Under Events and News

After several months of very slow progress at 2212 Carleton Avenue, the pace of construction has picked up significantly. This is the first of five new homes to be built on the street, with another two on Western Avenue.

Yellow Door Renovations purchased from the City of Fort Worth five homes on Carleton Avenue and another two on Western Avenue in 2025.  Given the past history of these particular homes to experience flooding during flash flood events, Yellow Door demolished all of them with plans to redevelop them into new, more flood-resilient homes.

Tim Germany, a managing member of Yellow Door, explained the build out has moved slowly because of the “significant number of special floodplain, elevation, and design-related restrictions and inspections” that are required for new construction in the City’s designated local flood risk areas, known as City Flood Risk Areas (CFRA).

Laying the slab foundation was a multi-step process that took several months because the City requires the foundation of homes in local flood risk areas to be built up considerably. Germany expects the progress on his next four new builds on Carleton to move more quickly. He says, “We’re committed to delivering a high-quality home that meets all City requirements and contributes positively to the neighborhood.”
