Make sure you are registered to vote in time for the national election this November 5th. To vote in Texas, you must first register. There are many ways to register, but no matter which way you choose, your county’s voter registrar must receive your application at least 30 days before an election. That means it must be received by the registrar’s office before end of work on Friday October 4th.
Ways to register to vote:
- By mail
- Pick up a paper application at a public library, a government office, or a high school.
- Or complete the application form online at the Texas voter registration portal, and then print out and sign the form.
- The application must be mailed to your county’s voter registrar office.
- In person at your county’s voter registrar office.

Even if you think you’re already registered to vote, it’s a good idea to double check that you haven’t been erroneously deleted or left off the voter rolls.
Be aware that there’s some misleading information on the internet and social media about this. The very best, most secure and quickest way of checking is by going to the Texas Secretary of State’s website: VoteTexas.gov.
