REPORTING CODE VIOLATIONS
Most code compliance complaints, like high grass and junk vehicles, are initiated by citizens like you. A recent report by the Fort Worth City Manager showed that 83% of the complaints to the Code Compliance Department came from citizens during 2024, with only 17% of the complaints initiated by code officers. District 7 that includes Arlington Heights had 4,340 citizen-initiated complaints and just 319 complaints initiated by code officers.
Officers are required to prioritize complaints based on urgency and severity. Most of a code officer’s day is spent investigating complaints rather than patrolling or actively enforcing code violations. So, the burden is on the citizens to report code issues. If you see something, email our neighborhood code officer Gina Ambriz at gina.ambriz@fortworthtexas.gov and follow up with a phone call 817-269-8691. Sending a photo and the address is very helpful. Your complaints are kept confidential.
