Betsy Price wins mayoral run-off with 56 percent of vote
The run-off election results are in, and Betsy Price (55.9 percent, 19,922 total votes) defeated Jim Lane (44.1 percent, 15,700 total votes) by a margin of 4,222 votes to become the new mayor of Fort Worth.
The run-off brought 10.8 percent of registered voters in Tarrant and Denton counties to the polls.
City Council District 7 – also contested in the June 18 run-off election – went to Dennis Shingleton (61.66 percent, 3,274 total votes), who defeated Jon Perry (38.3 percent, 2,036 total votes) by a margin of 1,238 votes.
Results of both races will be canvassed June 27, and the mayor- and councilmember-elect will be sworn in during the July 12 City Council meeting, set for 7 p.m. at City Hall, 1000 Throckmorton St.
