TRAFFIC CALMING DEVICE PROGRAM REINSTATED
Ten years ago, the City of Fort Worth cancelled the Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program because speed bumps and speed cushions slowed down emergency response times. The City has revived the program for low-volume, residential streets only.
How to get speed cushions for your block? Click here for Application. Submit a request through the MyFortWorth App, email the completed form to TrafficCalming@fortworthtexas.gov or mail to the address on the form.
Once received, city staff will contact the applicant to confirm eligibility. Staff will perform speed data for your block. To qualify, 85% of motorists must exceed the posted speed limit by five miles an hour or more. Applicants must also provide written support from two-thirds of the property owners within the impacted block and 100% support of owners impacted by the proposed placement of the speed calming devices.
