TREE GRANT APPLICATIONS DUE SEPT. 1
Neighborhood groups, individuals and organizations can apply to receive free trees for planting in specific Fort Worth locations.
The city’s Parks and Community Services Department is accepting applications through Sept. 1 for the 2009-10 Tree Grant Program, sponsored by the Forestry Section.
Field-grown, balled and burlapped (B&B) trees and 10- and 15-gallon container-grown trees are available free for transplanting on public property in Fort Worth. The B&B trees are available during the dormant season – usually December through March – but the container-grown trees can be planted throughout spring.
These locations are eligible to receive trees:
- street medians
- nonresidential parkways
- public parks
- Fort Worth Trinity Trails
- other public property, including fire and police stations, libraries and schools.
To learn more, visit the Forestry Section’s Web site or call 817-392-5739.
