VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL INSTALLATION

Arlington Heights neighbor and acclaimed artist Michael Pavlovsky is a member of the recently organized Tarrant County Vietnam Memorial Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that’s raising awareness and money for a memorial structure to recognize fallen Vietnam soldiers from Tarrant County.  According to Michael, the group has so far identified 224 Tarrant County soldiers who were killed in the Vietnam War.

The site for the memorial is planned for the southwest portion
of Veterans Memorial Park at 4120 Camp Bowie Boulevard,
next to Arlington Heights United Methodist Church.

The working design features the names of the fallen from 1965 through 1972, including Major Hugh Michael Fanning, a Trinity Valley School teacher who went missing in action.  The memorial will also include service personnel who have since passed due to post-war related causes, such as Agent Orange and PTSD.

The entrance to the memorial is slated to branch off the existing sidewalk to the west of the park.  A brick pavement with five granite benches will surround the main granite edifice that lists the rank, name and branch of each fallen soldier. Two entry walls flanking the entrance will contain donor information and medallions of the five branches of the U.S. military, as well as general information about the memorial.  The black POW-MIA flag will be included in the memorial.

The goal is to unveil the completed project on Veterans Day 2026. To learn more about this valiant effort, please visit the group’s website at tcvmf.us or go to their Facebook page at facebook.com/tcvmf.org.
