Margo Dean’s Ballet Concerto, Arlington Heights’ very own world-class ballet studio, has announced a live mini-holiday special for Saturday December 12 at 2:00 p.m.

Instead of performing their annual holiday extravaganza at Will Rogers Auditorium as they have for many years, they’ll be performing on the outdoor stage at Arts Fifth Avenue, 1628 5th Avenue in the Fairmount neighborhood.

The free event will include holiday choral music, along with tap dancers from Arts Fifth Avenue. Flamenco dancer Margarita Bruce will perform the story of Hanukkah, followed by a short duet choreographed by Elise Lavallee. Selections from the ballet O Holy Night, a re-enactment of the Nativity with Mary, Joseph, angels and shepherds, will be the highlight of the event.

Masks will be worn and socially distanced seating will be provided.

In the event of bad weather, the performance will be rescheduled for Saturday, December 19. For the latest information, please visit balletconcerto.com.

The percussion section of the Arlington Heights High School band has announced they’ll be caroling through the central part of Arlington Heights on the evening of Saturday December 12, starting at 6:30 p.m.

“We want to share some holiday music with everyone!” says Tanner Bolton, AHHS’s Assistant Band Director. “We’re calling it vibe caroling, We’re just excited for the opportunity to perform and hope people enjoy it. And if it cheers someone up or brings a moment of happiness to someone, that’s what it’s about for us!”

This is the first year for the event that’s scheduled to travel through the neighborhoods surrounding the historic high school. Bolton says they may do a couple of laps if there’s enough time.

The route encompasses Clover Lane, as well as Western, Carleton, Bryce, Ashland, Hillcrest, El Campo and Pershing Avenues.
