CAMP BOWIE BANNER PROGRAM FEATURES VETERANS

The new Hometown Heroes program is designed to honor local military veterans by spotlighting each of them on light pole banners along Camp Bowie Blvd. Banners go up on July 1, along with a website that includes a story about each of the featured veterans. This will be the first year for the free program.

To nominate someone, go to https://www.campbowiedistrict.com/veteran-s-banner-program. Nominees must currently live in Fort Worth and have served and be currently serving in a branch of U.S.military. The veteran must also have contributed to or was/is involved in the local community. Spaces are first come, first served, so sign up today.

Neighborhood Patrol Officer Andy Morquecho is back and will tell us what’s happening on the streets of Arlington Heights in his neighborhood crime report.

GUEST SPEAKER: Photographer Timothy Noonan. Timothy is known for his remarkable photographs of Fort Worth landmark buildings that he posts on the Fort Worth Texas History Facebook page that reaches more than 24,000 people. Timothy travels by city bus or on foot to take his photographs that he calls “pure Fort Worth.”

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR COWTOWN CLEANUP

Wipe out the work of neighborhood litterbugs by joining Arlington Heights Neighborhood Association’s Cowtown Cleanup brigade.  The citywide one-day litter event is Saturday March 23 from 8:00am until 11:00am and promises to be a morning of adventure and a great way to meet your neighbors.

The Heights crew will focus on cleaning up the south side of Calmont Avenue between Montgomery Street and Clover Lane, as well as the grounds of South Hi Mount Elementary School, Stripling Middle School and Thomas Place Park.

Sign up for the team by contacting head trash wrangler AHNA Vice-President Shanna Cisneros at shafw@aol.com.  Free t-shirts, gloves, and trash bags are provided.  Send Shanna your glove size (S, M, L, XL) and t-shirt sizes (Youth S, M or Adult S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL).

A celebratory Earth Party starts at 11:00am until 1:00pm at Sycamore Park and includes a free hot dog lunch, live entertainment and a Trashion Fashion Show.

Monday March 18 is the last day to sign up for this fun community event.

Lights Out, a nationwide initiative to protect migrating birds, kicks off on Friday, March 1. Keep Fort Worth Beautiful is encouraging residents to turn off nonessential outdoor lights from 11pm to 6am through the end of spring migration on Saturday, June 15.
